  • There are many great places to visit on Lopez Island.  The following link is to the Chamber of Commerce website and map.  Here you can find many recreation opportunities.  The only town on Lopez is referred to as Lopez Village on the map.  This town has a great grocery store, and you'll be able to find anything else you need there.  The Affolter's home is about 1/4 mile from the Shark Reef Park on the west side of the island toward the south end.

Some of our favorite places include Shark Reef Park, Spencer Spit State Park, Agate Beach County Park and Iceberg Point.  There is more info on these places below on this page.  There is a great farmer's market every Saturday in the summer that could be fun to check out before the wedding ceremony.

  • Shark Reef

This is one of our favorite places in the world!  From the Affolter's home walk west on Burt Rd.  Turn left on Shark Reef Road.  The trailhead will be on you right.  It takes about 20 minutes to walk from the Affolter's home to this amazing park on the water.

  • Agate Beach and Iceberg Point

Here are directions to the Agate Beach parking lot from the Affolter's.

To get to Iceberg Point leave the car in the Agate Beach parking lot.  Continue walking up the road.  It will look like you're heading into private property, but keep going.  A few hundred yards uphill there is a right turn marked with a small Iceberg Point Sign.  Turn right and walk about 3/4 of a mile to Iceberg Point.

  • Bike and Kayak Rental

Bikes and Kayaks can be rented on the island.  Both rental services are located next to the Islander Resort.  This is just south of the Lopez Village on the main road (Fisherman Bay Road).  You can't miss them.

  • The Other Islands

In addition to Lopez, the ferry system provides access to Shaw, Orcas and San Juan Islands.  They are all wonderful and if you have time are well worth a visit.

Above is a link to the ferry schedule.  Remember you won't be seeing the summer sailing schedule until June.  Inter-island car traffic is pretty light, so you probably only need to be in the ferry line 30-45 minutes prior to sailing time for inter-island trips.
